Morbidity pattern at the National Youth Service Corp camps in Nigeria

Background: The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was designed to foster shared bonds among Nigerian youths and promote national unity. orientation course is one of the program’s key initiatives. Even though camping promotes socialization self-confidence, campers may be exposed a variety diseases injuries. This study aimed evaluate pattern seen in NYSC camps.Methods: descriptive cross-sectional conducted camps Delta, Abia, Katsina States. demographic information diagnoses were extracted from camp clinics' registers. data analysed with SPSS, level significance set at p<0.05.Results: A total 2231 cases seen. There 299 (13.4%) Delta state camp, 1076 (48.2%) 856 (38.4%) state. more males (51.7%) than females (48.3%). mean age 25.10±2.67 years. most common upper respiratory tract infection (23.4%), malaria (22.5%), acid-peptic disorders (12.1%), gastroenteritis (6.9%), musculoskeletal (4.7%), allergic (4.7%). Fatigue/myalgia, headache disorders, malingering accounted for 4.3%, 3.8%, 1% cases, respectively. Bronchial asthma sexually transmitted infections significantly (p<0.001).Conclusions: indicated that are home diseases, being prevalent. essential resource allocation, planning, policy formulation.
